Capture & Escape

Illustration

The booklet's cover, featuring an illustration of leaves with dewdrops on them, and the words Capture and Escape.
On the left is young man in a small boat floating on a vast sea with a sparrow flying alongside him. He is looking to the right page, where an enormous figure's head appears among the clouds.
The young man up towards the large figure, now closer. The figure's faced is partially obscured by an image of the large figure's hands holding a sparrow. Above the young man's head appears a strawberry seed.
The young man is laying down, nestled into the collarbones of the large figure. His hand reaches down towards a plant that is shown growing in different stages along the bottom of the spread.
On the left page, the fully grown plant is now sprouting out of the young man's torso, and he is protecting it with his hands. His head is surrounded by the stages of a strawberry's growth, from bud, to blossom, to berry. On the right, the sparrow sits on a perch, and it is surrounded by the large figure's hands, almost like a cage.
In the background, there are four panels. The left panel shows a liquid in the shape of the young man, and in each subsequent right panel, the level of the liquid goes down, showing the liquid draining over time. In the foreground, the young man waters a dying plant with a watering can.
On the left page, the young man sits inside a ribcage holding a hammer made from the plant. On the right, an inset square shows the larger figure's teeth in his mouth.
This spread features a close up of the young man and the sparrow. Both of them are on fire, and the sparrow is falling towards the ground.
The ribcage from two spreads ago is now broken, with the hammer left on the ground. The large figure's mouth, which is set in a square on the right, opens up, with the sparrow flying out of the opening.
The background is dark. On the left, the young man is falling down, sinking deep into a body of water. On the right is a closeup of his eye, with a tear drifting upwards.
The left page depicts the young man floating in the body of water among lotus flowers, with his face just above the water. On the right page, set in an oval, is the same scene from the top, showing the young man's face breaking the surface of the reflective water.
The young man is alone against a vast dark background, looking at a reflection of himself on the ground.
The back cover depicts the sparrow flying off the page, with only its back half visible.
